If you are not using the remotes (SCVs) at all, then you could run the steering off the main pump. The only concern would be that you set the flow control valve down so that you don't try and shove too much oil through the steering pump. I'd start with the remote valve at the lowest flow possible, and then turn it up until it works where you want it, then disconnect the flow control cable so that you can't put too much oil in the circuit.

Simply run oil out from one coupler on the remote valve to your old PS output line, and run the outlet line straight back to sump (not in a coupler). This does two things for you: One, it keeps you from accidentally flowing oil backwards (not good), and two, it keeps you from blocking off the return path to sump (also not good).

Having said all that, if you work in hot climates, overheating may be a concern if the steering is used a lot. Pumping 20 GPM and using only 3 wastes 17 GPM at whatever pressure you're running at. This creates heat.
