SW Ontario | Be careful on that water efficiency thing, if you have water limiting soils and conditions you will go backward. I see you are irrigated so that probably won't apply.
One common misconception on row width is that narrow rows SAVE moisture, but the opposite is true. The narrower the rows the higher the LAI ( leaf area index) and the faster the crop depletes soil moisture. If your late summer conditions can be water critical, you have set your self for a big crop of empty cobs. | |
