Subject: Treating symptoms vs root cause

Pittsburg, Kansas
I have heard more than one doctor claim, don't know if it is the absolute truth or not, that it is the blood sugar spikes that are more damaging than the high stable levels.

I don't understand the mechanism of such an idea, but that is the claim. The roller coaster blood glucose ride is worse than just stable but slightly high blood sugar.

As long as a person has healthy beta cells in the pancreas, they can pump out the insulin and cram the excess glucose in the corners of our metabolism. Belly fat first, then visceral fat in the liver, pancreas, muscles and other organs.

But eventually the pancreas either gives up, wears out the beta cells, or just can't keep up. At that point diabetes is discovered. In reality it began 10 or maybe even 20 or more years earlier with overly high insulin levels.

But the medical community doesn't check insulin. In stead they wait till the blood sugar is out of control, then treat the symptoms rather than controlling or reversing the disease by modifying the root cause, excess insulin because of poor eating habits.
