Bleaching of hair is used in the west to mark a cow as open or pregnant. Depends how owner wants his marks to read. It will last up to 6 months easy. Sale barn buyers in your area learn to read your marks and know your brands. They can tell if cow is open, gummers, or bred gummers, etc.
