2/3 fall and 1/3 spring. Start in Sept and most are born in October. Calves hit the big market for being done in March. The couple of hundred head of spring calvers are February and March. They will hit another sweet spot for bigger calves. All my stuff is private treaty and is sold well before they are picked up. If cows miss they are moved to the next season. They miss again, they are gone. Falls will outweigh springs by 50-100 lbs. There is green for them to graze all winter here. Summer pasture can go to crap fast if it gets really hot.

We're a much smaller operation, only send out a couple pot loads a yr. But we're opposite of that. Probably 2/3 winter(mid January-early March) calves now and opens will usually get a chance to move to fall. Ours almost all get sold down the road from Garvo about 10 miles to get fed out. The few stragglers get sold at the sale barn or fed for freezer beef. We seem to have less trouble with sickness in the winter calves. The Indian summer days seem to get more sick in the fall. It's also drier with more dust historically so I'm sure that plays a part as well.
