Used both the free fall style and hydraulic type. The hydraulic type is faster if you have 2 people. I have a Montana with a flat “hammer” and the rock spike. Most times you encounter a rock you just pound it deeper. I’ve never encountered a spot you can’t get a post in. Pound blunt posts. 8’ posts. 3.5’ in the ground. Be sure to buy peeled posts vs. doweled.
