Subject: 50” below normal in last three growing seasons

Jesup, IA
The Iowa State climatologist says that my area in Black Hawk County is 50 inches below normal precip in the past three growing seasons.

Last year we only received 8 inches of rain from planting to harvest. For the year we were 20 inches below normal on precipitation, and 10 inches above on transpiration, making for a 30 inch deficit for the growing season.

Thus far this year, my weather station shows we received 1.64 inches of precip. Mostly in the form of a third week of January snowstorm. The differs from the source that indicated that Black Hawk County Iowa had 3 inches of precip so far this year.

We are epic dry.
