I don't know anything about bentonite.
Have you though about crushed concrete? Locally it can be bought for about $15-20 per ton, I put some on a couple of driveways. After it sat up for a couple weeks it got as hard as regulars concrete. I have been extremely pleased with it, in my drive ways.
