Yes. It started about 10 years ago when genomics became affordable, but really took off with the recent beef prices. Breed your best to sexed semen and breed the rest to beef.

The guys that have planned exit from dairy business have been breeding everything to beef because they didn't want the expense of raising heifers. Some of these guys are planning to raise beef after they quit milking.

I'm in expansion mode right now, so I haven't went the beef route yet.
