All good points but all bets are off when it's foggy. (OP said poor visibility)
When the tractor is turning at 5 mph and the semi is going 60 quarter mile away its too late then.
Camera can't see into pea soup.
That being said, a guy cd shut engine off and listen. Or just stay off the road.
