Holly Hill, SC | Your type of switch should hold up well. I think it should be designed to press into a flat plate not the edge of a steel plate. I have one of the expensive ag leader implement switches on my JD planter and made an additional one using a micro switch (under $10) and home made bracket. Works great excepts need the moist dust wiped off between the terminals every once and a while to reduce chance of continuity between the posts. Do no go the route of using a mercury switch. These are not consistant and can trip while bouncing across a field with the planter up.
