Faunsdale, AL | I’m no expert to say if it means anything but the 3 different wear patterns are concerning. What does the front end of the shaft look like? Any similar wear steps?
Why would it have a bend? The one that the spider gear pin from the differential hit had obvious scars along the side of it about where the bend is on yours.
What about the bracket holding the rear of it? Any wear there that would have allowed the shaft to move back out of the socket in the flywheel?
I think I would stick it back in to engage the pump and put a drill on it to spin the pump counterclockwise (same way as the engine) and see if the pump can pump oil. If so, that would confirm it’s the drive shaft causing the trouble somehow.
Are you sure the openings in the bottom of the transmission case around the sump screen are clean? It would be a stretch but a dramatic failure of the brake linings or something like paper towels dropped into the trans might basically seal the screen off.
Maybe somebody that’s seen more of those shafts than me will chime in.
