Looking for a somewhat cheaper cab tractor. Will be used for hay and small amount of row crop acres. My main tractor just went down and I don't have the time to rebuild or repower, so looking to buy pretty soon. Max budget of about $15k, seems like I can get a decent 70 series Case or an 86 series IH for around that. What do you guys recommend? Never really been around the 86 series, but they are popular. We had a 1070 Case for a few when I was a kid, but don't know a ton about either.

Neither!
Case is clumsy and the transmission can be a money pit.
IH transmission shifters will be worn out and are a PITA, and the the cab is a PITA to climb in and out of around levers which are ergonomically ridiculously placed.
I would look at a MF 1135, Ford 8700/9700 or a JD 4440 instead.
