There is a little more to it than the market being flooded. Milk prices to the farmers are lower than they have been since the 1950’s. Milk prices in the stores are still high and companies are making record profits.
Farmers know they are being manipulated but what are they going to do? There are only a limited number of bulk milk buyers here and most if not all the farmers do not do any processing of thier own product.
This could happen anywhere and if farmers put themselves in a situation where they are at the mercy of a few bulk milk buyers rest assured it will happen in other parts of the county.
