Lots of stuff going on here.
I have not read any of the responses, yet, but here goes:
1- You say you love him w/ all your heart.
That's one down.
2- Your very aware of your CC. debt / student loan
The very fact you mention this tells me you will get it eaten away.
3- Papa bear is the " boss ".
Yep, for now. I grew up like that and it sucks to High heaven.
Do what ya gotta do to " get on the same page " as hubby.
Its tough, he grew up with this family, but its in YOUR best interest to do so. ...no matter what.
4- Your biggest "problem " is communication between husband and the parents, not necessarily you.
