Boone/Hendricks Counties, IN | Just did the Furnace/Heat pump thing in May. I live in Central Indiana so the heat pump works well for all but maybe Jan/Feb most of the time. I did a combo Furnace (less energy efficient) and the heat pump (more efficient). The combo allowed me to get the $1500 tax credit for this tax year and $500 from the state...which I understand has since run out for Indiana. I bought Amana...but I am sure most brands have their good and bad. I bring that up so the tax credit is not overlooked. A salesperson should be bringing it up. By the way the heat pump keeps us plenty cool and the electric bills appear to be better. We also talked to the electric company that services us and got a box that allows a $10 a month tax credit, it controls the power usage during high use times. Never notice a problem. They also sent an energy saving kit, which had thermometers for checking water temp on water heater, fridge, etc. and four of those energy bulbs for free. Understand many are doing that.
