Jody,
I was anti texting until last Summer when I got my Daughter a phone and unlimited txt. Its nice to spell a few words, and not be on the phone for 10 min doing chit chat with some one. Also I have a buddy that works for me, he has a lawn mowing bussiness, & doesn't carry his phone when mowing, it's nice to txt him with what the game plan is. Instead of letting the phone ring for 1 miniute then wait thru the operator and pushing # 1' then leave a message "call me"
There are about as many + as - to texting, for us adults. For the kids its just a way of life.
