I guess in our area never herd of mixing reed caranay with alfalfa. Reed caranay is for wet, very wet area or soil - alfalfa doesn't do well in wet areas. I think the reed would out grow and chock out the alfalfa as well. Orchard grass? that's a good companion crop with alfalfa . . . . is that what you want?
