Subject: Is Split weighing a semi and end dump ok

North west MN

MY driver had to split weigh my end dump at an elevator. Just by chance I had just calibrated my yield monitor so I had weighed several partial loads and had my final gross weight of it and it was 80,200# on a full platform scale. Now when the Hired man got back from the elevator a different small scale split weighed he gave me the ticket and it was only 76,400#. I was very concerned and thought the only way to see what was going on was to load it up again and weigh it on a full scale again before taking the load in. So guess what! I weighed in at 85,600 on the full scale and only 80,900 on the split weigh before dumping. I showed the elevator man the ticket from the other scale and he said it was not possible that his scale was tested but would take my word for it this time but would not take my word for it again.

Is it possible for the scale to be off 4,000# or more on a split weigh or is some one getting greedy when adding the numbers together?

I can't give away 70 bushels of beans every time I take a load in.
