It sounds to me like you'd be a candidate to plant some of that ground in milo. Milo can come through a lot of dry weather and still flex yiend for when ample moisture is available. But it's fertility requirements are about the same as corn. Europe seems to be a good market for milo nowadays because they need a non-GMO feed.
