Kansas | Drizzled off and on all day yesterday. Harvest is only one of our worries. There is still wheat to plant. Calves to wean. At least the lots wont be dusty this fall. I don't think the cane hay rolled into bales is gonna be worth much this year as wet as it all got. I'm tickled pink I still have my good old crop from two years ago.
Dad has told stories about digging the combine out in the spring and getting the milo then. I sure hope it don't come to that. Going to really screw up everything including a fall income and stubs for cattle to graze.
But you know, I'm not getting to upset yet. I remember years with a helluva snow storm the day before halloween. No white wet crap yet.
They had a hailstorm Saturday night over around the long island, prairie view area. Never got to us, thank goodness.
Keep fingers crossed and count our lucky stars, it will dry off some soon. IF not, well, wet milo ins't as profitable paying for a drier running but it's been done before too. | |
