Subject: Re: Killing alfalfa and grass hay land

Bow Island, Alberta
I'm in Southern Alberta, irrigated conditions. We"ve had excellent luck with glyphosate in September, on third cut alfalfa that was about 2 feet tall. Leave it for at least 3 days, and then cut for hay.

However, in your area, I'm wondering if the alfalfa and the grass is still growing well enough. If the leaves are starting to wilt due to the cold, it may be too late. Also, could be a problem if it is quite dry. Poor results are guaranteed if the crop is under drought stress.

As far as next year's crop, my only experience has been either with straight alfalfa (wheat works very well) or straight timothy.
