SW Saskatchewan
I would agree that it might be too late to count on a kill this fall. Only if the plant is growing can you count on the translocation of the chemical.

That said, those reccomendations for Banvel and 2-4-D have something going for them-at these temperatures there will be a real residual effect next spring when things start growing.

Mightn't get the meadow brome, but will sure knock the socks off the alfalfa.

And will make sure you can only grow a cereal! Oilseeds and pulses will also be crimped pretty good by carryover banvel.

If I had the time and moisture looked good, I would do the 2-4-D and Banvel (2 oz active is my preference) now and hit again VERY early in the spring with Glyphosate and banvel again( as soon as meadow brome shows growth).

The split should do a number on the alfalfa and the meadow brome is the question- how much time can you wait to be sure of max active plants versus the need to kill and plant to conserve moisture.

Good luck- I see high durum is going to chase more cows off the land!
