Subject: RE: cover plates vs. small wire concaves in wheat

Lancaster County, Pa.
I tried cover plates in my 2366 last summer for the first and I was impressed.  I actually went through most of the small grain season w/ small wire concaves.  After all the wheat was done I cut some tritical for a neighbor.  I couldn't thrash that stuff to save my life.  Heads in the bin and grain in the straw.  Pulled out the small wiree concaves and put in large wire concaves w/ cover plates on front concave. I should probably have had the front section of the second concave covered as well. Still was not perfect, but it was much better and it was acceptable.  This summer I won't be switching concaves! FWIW
