Swaging is a lot more particular about specs....the die does one size and one size only, there's no room for the operator to "make it work" like can be done with a crimper. 

I have access to a couple crimpers quite close by, but it's a lot easier to just walk across the shop and make it.  

 

Now stocking fittings.....there's a never ending battle!  I abolished 1/4" stuff shortly after the start, and I'm thinking about abolishing 3/8" next.  Buying stuff on eBay you can buy 1/2" for essentially the same price and going to a one-size-fits-all approach would help a lot in keeping the inventory up, although on JIC and ORB you are going to end up with multiple size fittings anyway.
