Subject: RE: Gas pickups and performance chips

Mid Michigan
A friend of mine had a Dodge Dakota 2wd pickup with the 318 Fuel injected motor in it. Was a pretty strong running truck but he wanted to take it to a drag race event we were going to and wanted it to run faster. He ordered a Mopar Performance Computer for it from Jegs. Told me the truck was running much faster and I was kind of skeptical. I have one of those Vericom Performance Computers that you put on the dash and we took it out and did several back to back runs and it was significantly faster. It was making much more torque and horsepower. I gave him a set of small diameter Goodyear Gatorbacks off my mustang to put on the back and it lowered his gear ratio a lot from his bigger tires. Truck started out runing in the mid 16 second range in the quarter mile at about 84 mph. By the time he put in the Mopar Computer and the Shorter tires he was running Low 15's at about 90 mph. I had to see it myself to believe it. Yikes!
