On some outside condenser units, there is a chart inside the access cover to the compressor. The chart should give the proper pressure info.
Put the gauges on mine last week and found the condenser coil to be very dirty, a little time with the water hose and it works fine now. My unit is located under a nightlight so it gets a fair share of flying critters sucked into it.
