Subject: RE: slightly off topic - residential AC

We have had a Water Furnace for about 15 years or so. We have been very happy with it. We have replaced the fan and not much else in that time. We did have a pain one summer with the high pressure light coming on and the system shutting down. After many service calls we finally found out the switch which is on the end of a pipe off of the compressor was vibrating enough that it would eventually break one of the wires and shut it down. It would run fine as long as the gages were on the unit and then quit as the service man was walking out of the room. A nylon tie strap and new wires solved our problem. I can't remember the savings on electricity but it certainly has been a good unit. Jansens are good to work with too.
