Subject: Re: How far have you drove

Berlin, Germany
last week a convoy of several combines, a Ropa sugarbeet loader where on route from the area of Halle (former East Germany) to the area of Kiew (Ucraine). With a car that is a drive of over 20 hours, it's just 1512 km / 939 miles. That is a normal route. Please take also in account that it's not that good and wide roads you have and that you are going through various countries, with customs, differant languages and so on. And the mashinery is going just 13 mils/h, if the road isn't too bumpy.
This type of transport is still cheaper than a truck because you don't have this strict width and steering hours limitations. So they are realy not that seldom.

In my youth I did a drive with a tractor from one to the other farm of my parents which was just about 200 miles. It was than 18 year old DAvid Brown with 35 hp without cab and hydraulic steering. Was fun and it toock quiete a long time. After a while it's getting boring, first 2 hours are fun.
