Subject: RE: Growing good wheat......

Springhill,Kentucky
We do it a little differently around here..99% of the wheat planted here goes in behind corn...We do on ocassion have a scab outbreak, but it's been many years since we had a bad one...My personal preference is to start planting on or around October 15th,two small doses of chicken litter into late fall, then one small dose of urea in spring right after greenup. We do use fungicide, altho not every year nor every acre...This past season was our best wheat crop ever...Something i doubted after the tremendously wet May we had..After the wheat is harvested,we get beans planted just as soon as is humanly possible and then hope we don't have a terribly early frost...
