I have a Deere 750 and it does a good job of no-tilling timothy into wheat stubble. You might try a mix of 10 # per acre of timothy and 8 # per acre of smooth brome grass.
One point, there is a timothy mite that on occassion can totally wreck timothy yields and stands. I would definately look for this "beast" if you are having issues with stand life.
