I had forgot about seeding grass with small grain in the fall, Russ's approach sounds like the way to go for that. One thing we have learned, burning down all weeds w glypho then 750 notil alfalfa or grass with grain nurse crop produces the best grass seedings we have ever had here. Results never cease to amaze me. I often remember helping granddad plowing, stoneboating, spring tooth harrowing, cultipacking, then drill seeding fields for his hay crops and wish he could have had access to this kind of technology. It's almost magic, one pass with 750 or its newer (but not better) versions and it's done.
