Thank you fellows for an excellent discussion and covering my questions while I was in State College for Ag Progress Days.
I have done direct seeding of timothy with my drill, I also have done the fall small grain and grass mix type seedings. Both work. But if you mix grass seed in small grains use of chemical weed control becomes a mute point.
Mix brome grass with oats, wheat, barley, and set drill by VOLUME, a bushel of brome is 14# of seed, so if you want 2 bushels of small grain and 8# of brome grass a 2.5 bushel per acre setting is required.
