Driftless SW Wisconsin
If you manage to consistently run a field cultivator or ANY type of tool at 2" that puts the bottom of this tool right at most common corn seed depth. Almost any tool running at seed depth will leave a pan right where you are trying to create good seed to soil contact.

Depending on the soil type, amount of rain between the 2" FC/tool, soil moisture levels at planting time, etc this pan may or may not cause a significant problem. Unless your ground is as flat and level as a pool table I agree with Chad, I don't think you can hold 2". IF you do the pan at 2" may be as bad or worse than the pan deeper.

My suggestion is to try it in a field this fall. Check what sort of soil conditions you have at seed depth.

Good seed to soil contact is essential. jmho.

PS - Regarding Cliff's mulch master above, I think the thing that makes that tool useable at shallow depths is the curved wheels in the rear - they are very different than most field cultivators. Again, jmho.
