Newfane NY | We have started useing rye and killing it in the spring with rup before it gets to the 2ft mark. Am planting some winter barley this fall to use for my own cover seed in 2007. I am told it is almost as good as rye and I like the idea if it gets away it will not get 6 ft tall. I have no proof on the added OM but it can not hurt and "this" year the Cover Crop fields have my best looking crops. Soon the combine will tell all. John | |
