Purdue still uses the 15.5% figure for # 2 corn as that is what the official moisture level is according to USDA. I believe multi-peril ins. uses it as well. As Ron says, the difference comes in depending upon the local elevator. Our local elevator shrinks corn to 15% for delayed price & 14% for open storage. They also use a 1.4% shrink factopr but have seen a lot of elevators charge higher than that. Another thing the elevators around here started doing about 10 years ago is figuring drying & shrink on each individual load instead of on an overal average.
