Grand Rapids, MI | OK, did a little research and yes, I was wrong about #2 YC being 15.5% moisture. Actually everyone here is wrong so far. U.S. no. 2 is a grading standard. Moisture is not a part of the grading standard as USDA states "While not a grading factor, moisture is determined on all corn samples." ref: http://archive.gipsa.usda.gov/reference-library/brochures/corninspe...
So I have not found anywhere that the USDA/GIPSA specifies a moisture content standard, although they do have protocols on how to measure it. Which is probably why the standard varies so much. I guess the right way to specify corn would be U.S. no. 2 15.0% moisture or less. etc. | |
