North Central Iowa | I haven't run a 2388, but do run a 1680, and I would go with the rock trap. I think if you put the stone retarder drum in position to exclude the rocks that you want in the rock trap, you'll retard the feeding worse than the rock trap will. It's amazing to me how many rocks end up in the trap that I never saw (all of them, hopefully!). Usually small, flat ones the size of the palm of my hand or less, but still, not something I'd ever want running through my rotor. I know in the areas that don't have many rocks, they wonder why anyone needs a rock trap, but I wouldn't be without one here.
