Subject: RE: Dealing with building contractors

Amherst WI
I used an Amish crew to build my shop as well. 5 brothers and dad would pop in a few times a week. I don't think any of them were over 28 years old. 20 working days to build the whole thing. On the last day they were here I told them I wish I could have them build stuff for me all year, they were such a pleasure to do business with. You could have eaten off the floor every day before they left.

When I built my steer barn it was an opposite experience. They started in September and were supposed to be done Dec 1, they didn't get done until the end of May coming a day here and there to work on it at a time. This created a cash flow nightmare and some exciting talks with our lender that we parted ways with shortly thereafter. Ironically the lender recommended these yokels to do the work.
