Subject: Salt

Pittsburg, Kansas
The daily requirements are probably way too low.

If a person goes to low carb eating a lot of the processed food that is high in salt is naturally eliminated. So a low carb eater will probably find they need to add more salt to their food than in the past.

The low salt diet recommendations for about 90% of the population are bunk. We need salt and the body will regulate its use effectively and eliminate any excess easily. Looking at all cause mortality in studies, too little salt is more harmful than too much.

There are probably a very few with certain medical conditions that need to limit salt intake. For most people, salt to taste and don't be afraid of salt.
