I used to use the recipe that called for eggs and cooking and refrigerating. Too much work and dirty pans to clean up afterward.

Now I just use milk and sugar. Maybe a few drops of vanilla. Mix it in the ice cream maker's canister. Use lots of salt on the ice (buy a 50# bag of feed grade salt for cattle). Simple and delicious. Can add chocolate or fruit.

I used to skim the cream off the top of our Jersey milk, but again, too much work. Our Jersey milk is 5.2% butterfat, so it is perfect straight from the cow.
