Now, obesity and the similarity to “the Covid”. Advertisements are almost all junk food, fast food restaurants super size everything, thus Calories in exceed calories out. Both affect healthcare spending which the majority of comes from the public sector, not private anymore. This is an example of what can happen. Enter control. Obesity can be used in the same way Covid was used. Obesity is a “epidemic” draining healthcare funding, therefore government mandates, Senator X get kickback from slush fund, Nova sells product, Dr gets bonus to Rx, hospital gets bonus for program administration while they all send money back to the Senator to get re-elected. Short term weight lose looks good, probably over the longer term weight creeps back up. Typical, high baseline, nice drops moderate to lower baseline results not impressive. You never changed the problem. Quick fix. Patient no better off, everyone else is making money. Does government really care about controlling costs of healthcare or your individual health. NO. It is a constant cycle of politicians, companies, and money. The people government is supposed to help is getting screwed. The only people who should be involved in a person’s health is the patient and doctor. If you are overweight and you don’t take Ozempic to do your part in controlling healthcare costs they could take your rights away. It is for the greater good right?
I make this comparison to point out what we have just witnessed through the recent power grab. Were jobs lost, businesses shut down, licenses revoked? How did that benefit society? If transmission was not reduced by intervention, government just created harm not good. Inflation is a result and it will not end well. Yes, it can happen to agriculture? How would you change your operation without your government crutch being given to you? In my life ag has been able to side step other industries regulations, but that is changing. We have to be cognizant of what is going on around not only our little microcosm, but the country and world as well. Once you give up your rights in the name of safety try getting them back.
