Pittsburg, Kansas | Yeah I started out on sulfonylureas. After quite a few years there was a scare about cancer or some such thing. Doctor wanted me off of it and said insulin therapy was best. So I started taking insulin. 2 units was my first injections!
Of course knowing what I know now, I would have known that was only the beginning of my downward spiral of ever increasing doses and weight gain. 100 units a day in 4 injections and 100 pounds fat heavier was the result 25 or 30 years later.
Edit: I still have little fat pooches each side of my belly button where I injected the insulin like Type I diabetics get. Damaged fat cells near injection site.
If a person believes and follows current medical dogma for type II diabetes, they are absolutely correct in calling it a progressive degenerative disease with no cure. Absolutely correct. If you follow their guidelines and protocol.
What they don't say is for most of us with still functioning pancreas beta cells, a very low carb diet will either partially or completely reverse it.
I am living proof. I have close friends that are also living proof. Completely off medications with better blood sugar control than before.
I haven't figured out if the medical community is that stupid, or just don't want to know.
Sounds harsh what I say. I have seen examples of SO many people reversed their diabetes with diet change. It just boggles my mind. Almost like the powers that be don't want a cure.
