NW Wisconsin | Deal with the same thing with cows... Despite what anyone says you still need a good enough fence with hot to keep them from running though it. The hot is the deterrence from getting close to it... 6 Joule fencer with cows they learn real quick not to go near it. High Tensile Barb behind it spaced 11" apart keeps them from running though.
Once they figure out they can just run though it you are hosed... Sounds like woven wire is next with hot to keep them off of it.
