Subject: RE: Electric fence controller for goats

If theyre getting out, youre more than likely behind the 8 ball. We graze a pretty good amount of goats and sheep in multiple different fashions. One high tensile wire in front of the barb wire is typically the perimeter fence. Most pastures are then cut up with 2 poly wires and step in posts or gallagher smart fence and the animals are moved once per day during the growing season. Yes, even during lambing and kidding. We rarely have animals get out. The key to a fence charger is joules, nothing else matters. The key to keeping in goats or sheep is to not let them get hungry and to keep animals that have been around electric fence their entire life. We also graze crop fields with our weaned lambs and kids with two high tensile wires around the perimeter and typically never have any out. Its all about them being used to that type of system, I believe.
