Subject: In-line ripping in the spring

SE SD
I was walking out in some of my fields today, and noticed that some of the high traffic areas are hard & compacted. The frost didn't go very deep this year to help bust things up, plus it's dry. I know that ripping is more of a fall project, but would it be foolish to hit these areas with a straight shank "no-till" ripper like a CIH 2500 or Deere 2100. Not talking about doing entire fields, just the high traffic areas. We are about a month away from planting.
