I appreciate the replies. Got the salesman tracking down a in-line 5 shank "no-till" ripper as we speak. I was out in a few more fields today, and once again the high traffic areas are like concrete. Soil temp is currently 50 degrees. I do conventional till for corn and vertical till my cornstalks in the fall, then depending on the ground conditions I either go right in and no-till the beans into a stale seedbed or hit it with the field cultivator if its lumpy and uneven/wet.
