SE SD
Yep a minimal disturbance "no-till" shank that doesn't disturb the surface is what I'm looking at. Basically lift the soil and let it back down. My main problems involve the headlands and field approaches. I'm guessing if I go straight with the rows, I will risk there being a false bottom and the seed will sink? I plan on field cultivating before I plant. Will I still have this issue? Again, I know ripping is meant for fall but normally we get a ton of frost to break up the hard pan enough....However, we don't have much subsoil moisture and we were also mild all winter long. Which means the frost didn't go very deep this winter which is why these areas are so hard.
