NWMO | If you truly believe that they have to own the company to have access to all the data anyways, then you don’t understand how the internet/algorithims work.
The bill proposes that china must divest of TikTok. Great, I understand the sentiment. But why should you believe that they still won’t have their hands in the data or that they can’t still influence people in the states? Russia doesn’t own Facebook, yet over 140M Americans were exposed to Russian propaganda during the 2020 elections. Of which, 75% of those who were exposed to the propaganda were not friends with, nor were they subscribed to, those entities putting out propaganda.
All that to say, they hate TikTok because they can’t control it. They had their hands dipped into both FB and twitter during the last elections and Covid and censured that which they didn’t want the American public to know. They’re using this TikTok bill as a Trojan horse to gain more control of the internet. | |
