Buying ground it's almost  impossible to get it to pencil out on its own. Generally costs on new land are spread out over existing, hopefully paid-for land.  This is how most crop land purchases are rationalized these days. Almost never will a piece of ag land pay for itself and especially not as pasture. Maybe ND is different. Good luck.
